Anzac

We arrived back this term and there were A LOT of white crosses outside Rooms 1 and 2, by the Staff room.  This started a class room discussion about ANZAC.  The following are a sample of the stories we wrote:
In the Great War One was the special war ever.  There were a thousand people died.  It was really sad when the people died.  There were poppies growing on top of the ground.  Then we celebrate Anzac.              Jayden
Anzac is because some people died and some people did survive.         Alex
It is important because it is kind and caring and it’s celebrating your family and we will remember.  Calais
I think Army is important because one of my favourite soldiers was in the Army War but he died in the War.         Harlem
Anzac is because they gave their lives to us for freedom and harmony.  We will always remember you for ever.            Toby
In World War One people fought for freedom and they wanted peace.  We won.  Poppies grow.  Preston
I think it’s important to celebrate Anzac because now we have freedom and harmony.    Eli
It’s important to remember Anzac.  Anzac means Australia New Zealand Army Corps.  My Great Grandfather went to War and luckily survived.  They have these holes so they can protect themselves.  If a soldier dies a poppy grows.  It was a red flower.    Finn
I think it is important because my Great, Great Grandfather fought in the war.    Liam
I remember Anzac because my Dads Dads Grandad went to War.   Lachie
My Dad remembers something about the War.  My Papa was the Captain of the soldiers.  He got shot.  It’s just my Nana now.              Jimace
I think Anzac day is important because the soldiers went to War for us.  My Great Grandfather James Alfred Jeffries Parmiter fought with the British in Egypt as an engineer.       Lucia
I celebrate Anzac day because the people fought for our country and they are very special.     Ned
I think that Anzac day is important because they fought for countries and peace.    Bryn
I think we should remember the soldiers because the soldiers who died are important.  We just wanted peace.  We remember them by their name.       Harper
It was important that the soldiers went to war because if they didn’t we wouldn’t have peace and freedom.  Soldiers came from Australia and New Zealand and went to war to fight.      Brooke
Anzac day is a really good day.  My Great Grandfather went to war and my grandfather went to the Army.  I want to go to War.  And Zac.  Why did they make War?   Zak

Anzac is important because the people that went to War made us free.  My Pop went to War and survived happily.  Baxter
